The Eastern District of Michigan is the name of the federal court jurisdiction that encompasses the Eastern half of the lower peninsula of Michigan. Operating mainly out of the Detroit Federal Building, with other courthouses located in Ann Arbor, Port Huron, Flint, and Bay City, all federal cases which take place within the jurisdiction. The Eastern District is one of the more important federal jurisdictions, handling some of the most serious criminal cases, including the underwear bomber and the Kwame Kilpatrick case. From Alpena to Monroe and all the cities and towns in between, the Eastern District of Michigan services millions of people.
