Located in Royal Oak Michigan, the 44th District Court governs all misdemeanor criminal cases and felonies that take place in Royal Oak. The 44th District Court Judges
The 44th District Court is presided over by two judges. Judge Jamie Wittenberg and Judge Derek Meinecke are in charge of judging all Royal Oak misdemeanor cases and the initial stages of all felonies charged in Royal Oak. Because Royal Oak is our home court, we have extensive experience practice law here and have handled some of the biggest felonies that have every moved through this court. Both Judge Wittenberg and Judge Meinecke are extremely fair judges in felony cases and will rule based on the law. We’ve known both judges for a very long time and Jim Amberg and Judge Meinecke even had jury trials against each other back when Judge Meinecke was still an Oakland County Prosecutor.

The Royal Oak District Court is a great place for us when it comes to our felony strategies. Both judges will grant motions when the law requires and they allow us the proper time to conduct our district court level felony investigations. Even in serious misdemeanor cases, both judges have allowed us extensive discovery, and have held the prosecutor’s feet to the fire when they haven’t complied. Needless to say, if you are charged with a felony, Royal Oak is not a bad court to start your case in.
